Colton's Motto:
Get government off our backs and out of our pockets.
Government's Responsibilities:
Infrastructure, Education, Public Safety
Agriculture Producers
Farming remains one of the few industries where producers buy at retail and sell at wholesale, often experiencing extreme market volatility. Agriculture producers in Northwest Georgia face challenges that require innovative solutions. Free market principles should be applied wherever possible to reduce government overreach, eliminate burdensome production regulations, and end subsidies that distort markets. The government should not control the food supply—such control equates to control over the people. Allowing market demands to drive innovation and transparency will ultimately benefit both producers and consumers.
Borders
A strong national border is crucial for Georgia residents. The cost of illegal immigration on our local communities is significant, placing an immense strain on resources such as healthcare, education, and housing. Without proper infrastructure in place, illegal immigration contributes to overcrowding and burdens services meant for Georgia families. The policies of the Biden Administration have only heightened the urgency for national border security. We must complete the border wall and reform our immigration system to protect Georgia workers and taxpayers.
Boy Scouts of Northwest Georgia
The Boy Scouts of Northwest Georgia provide invaluable opportunities for character development and outdoor experiences. In today’s digital age, where many young men are glued to electronics, the Boy Scouts play a critical role in fostering relationships, building life skills, and instilling values that align with Georgia’s proud traditions. Through mentorship and outdoor activities, Scouts develop into leaders and embrace values that strengthen their communities. Let’s support and encourage more Eagle Scouts to rise from our region! Visit their website to learn more.
Campaign Finance
Colton Moore is committed to self-funding himself as State Senator, ensuring his service remains entirely focused on the people. By refusing special interest money, he will owe no favors and will legislate based on deeply held principles and the will of his constituents. Colton’s refusal to engage in special interest funding reflects the kind of leadership Atlanta desperately needs while providing District 53 the representation that serves The People, not powerful lobbyists.
Civil Asset Forfeiture
Civil asset forfeiture allows the government to seize personal property, such as cash or vehicles, without requiring a criminal conviction. Property owners are not provided legal counsel in these cases, as they fall under civil, not criminal, law. This practice undermines the right to due process and infringes on the presumption of innocence by forcing individuals to prove the legitimacy of their property. Georgia must lead the way in requiring criminal convictions before seizing a citizen’s property, protecting the constitutional rights of its residents.
Constitutional Carry
Gun regulations disproportionately affect law-abiding citizens, as criminals ignore these laws entirely. The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms, and Georgia should not impose fees or waiting periods on citizens exercising that right.
The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the importance of removing barriers to firearms permits. During the Public Health Emergency and subsequent shutdown of government offices, firearm permit processing delays highlighted the need for reform. Constitutional Carry (HB2) ensures that law-abiding citizens can carry firearms without unnecessary permits, preserving their right to self-defense.
Common Core
Federally mandated Common Core requirements have lowered educational standards, fostering mediocrity instead of excellence in our schools. Georgia’s students deserve better. Local school districts must have the flexibility to address individual student needs and empower teachers to focus on real learning rather than adhering to one-size-fits-all federal mandates.
Too many students are leaving school unprepared for the real world, underscoring the need for local control in education. Let’s ensure our children are equipped to succeed by prioritizing high standards and local innovation over federal bureaucracy.
Coronavirus Healthcare
Good information leads to good decisions, yet policymakers worldwide were forced to act in the dark during the pandemic. Accessible and plentiful antibody and COVID-19 tests are essential to prevent misguided economic decisions and protect public health.
The government’s response to COVID-19 demonstrated the importance of public-private partnerships. By lifting FDA regulations, the development of testing kits and treatments accelerated, with private entities driving much-needed technological advancements. Roadblocks to medical innovations that save lives must be eliminated. Georgia should prioritize fostering innovation to prepare for future challenges.
Criminal Justice Reform
Georgia’s criminal justice system has become a weapon for mistreatment and dehumanization, particularly of the less fortunate. Our jails are overcrowded with non-violent offenders while the root issues of the justice system remain unaddressed. True reform is overdue.
Many Georgians have grown hopeless in their pursuit of justice, and profiteering off the system has only deepened the problem. Colton Moore will be a relentless advocate for commonsense criminal justice reform, ensuring fairness and equality. Justice should never be a means of profit—it should be a pillar of hope and integrity.
Cronyism
Too often, politicians prioritize big corporate interests, passing legislation that benefits their lobbyist allies. Cronyism stifles small businesses, limits competition, and erodes trust in free markets. Georgia must eliminate these corporate-driven policies and open opportunities for all entrepreneurs.
By breaking down barriers to investment and economic competition, we can foster innovation and prosperity. Colton Moore is committed to creating a level playing field for all Georgians, ensuring the government serves the people, not a select few.
Education
With over 50% of Georgia’s state budget allocated to education, it’s clear that education is the foundation of society—and it needs urgent reform. Federal regulations, like Common Core, have hindered progress, leaving students unprepared and teachers unable to fully utilize their skills. Lowering standards to raise graduation rates fosters mediocrity and harms future generations.
Discipline, an essential component of education, has been stripped from classrooms, creating unsafe and ineffective learning environments. Teachers need the freedom to manage their classrooms and deliver quality education. Colton Moore has championed discipline in schools through legislation like HB 179 and is committed to addressing these systemic issues.
When 60% of teachers don’t recommend teaching as a profession, we are at a crisis point. Reform is essential to secure the next generation’s success in Georgia.
Elections
Colton Moore believes voting rights issues are often manufactured for political gain. The solution is simple: requiring an ID to vote. If a nation like India can issue state IDs to over a billion people, Georgia should have no problem ensuring voter identification for a secure process.
Voter fraud is a real concern, as highlighted by President Trump. While Democrats push for error-prone paper ballots, Colton supports Georgia’s advanced electronic voting machines, which allow for secure voting, paper audits, and prompt certification. Biometric voting systems should be the future of elections, providing unparalleled security and accuracy. Georgia must lead the way in election integrity.
Emergency Responders
Emergency responders are true heroes, essential to Georgia’s safety and security. Yet, there’s a growing shortage as more young people pursue 4-year degrees over vital career paths like emergency response.
High schools must make information about emergency responder training programs more accessible to students. By emphasizing the value and honor of this profession, we can inspire a new generation of first responders dedicated to serving their communities.
Establishment vs. Anti-Establishment
The vision of our Founders was for public service to be carried out by Citizen legislators who would serve their community and then return to their work and families. Today’s political system has strayed far from that ideal, favoring career politicians who prioritize special interests over the will of the people.
This entrenched establishment creates a cycle of incumbents who are rarely challenged and remain disconnected from the needs of their constituents. Draining the swamp in Atlanta requires grassroots efforts to elect anti-establishment candidates who are unafraid to challenge the status quo.
Colton Moore has a proven track record of standing up to the establishment and exposing their abuses of power. It is the hardworking citizens of Northwest Georgia—not corporate-backed politicians—who know what their communities need.
Faith
The Founding Fathers understood the importance of religious liberty, ensuring that every citizen is free to pursue their faith without interference. Georgians should have the freedom to live and run their businesses according to their religious convictions.
No law should force people to compromise their beliefs or engage in practices that contradict their faith. Colton Moore is committed to protecting religious liberty and ensuring that the government respects the moral and spiritual values of its people.
Film Industry Subsidies
Georgia’s economy is thriving, yet the state loses nearly $1 billion a year to Hollywood through unnecessary subsidies. These tax credits encourage an influx of voters who often oppose Georgia’s conservative values while enriching an industry that fights against issues like protecting the unborn and defending faith.
The film tax credit initiative is broken and exploited, draining resources that could be better used to benefit Georgia families. Colton Moore believes subsidies are not only unconstitutional but harmful to the state’s economy. It’s time to end this system and redirect Georgia’s focus to policies that empower its citizens.
Food Processing
Burdensome federal regulations and inspections are stifling small food businesses and local meat producers in Georgia. Colton Moore supports solutions like herd shares to create ranch-to-consumer markets, giving local beef producers a chance to compete in Georgia’s growing agricultural economy.
Currently, large corporations, like the “Big 4” beef packers, monopolize the market, profiting immensely while local producers struggle to make ends meet. Georgia must adopt innovative legislation, such as that passed in Wyoming, which allows producers to sell beef directly to consumers. This approach restores power to local businesses and strengthens our food supply chain.
If major corporations like Tyson falter, Georgia Grown and Dade Made producers should have the opportunity to reclaim market share and support their communities.
Future Farmers of America (FFA)
Future Farmers of America is essential to preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders. Through hands-on training in areas like horticulture and ag-mechanics, FFA equips students with the skills necessary for real-world success in agriculture-based careers.
Colton Moore wholeheartedly supports the work of FFA in building a brighter future for Georgia’s agriculture industry. The organization’s efforts to engage students and connect them to their communities are invaluable for sustaining the state’s agricultural legacy.
Georgia Economy
Georgia’s strong economy thrives on the principles of free-market capitalism, but growing subsidies for big businesses and restrictive regulations for small businesses threaten its stability.
Colton Moore is committed to cutting red tape and removing barriers that prevent individuals and businesses from succeeding. By fostering a truly competitive market environment, Georgia can ensure continued economic growth and opportunity for all its citizens.
Georgia Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Georgia FBLA is a nonprofit organization that prepares students to be future business leaders through career development programs. As the largest chapter in the nation, Georgia’s FBLA stands as a beacon of excellence, demonstrating that Georgia’s business environment is capable of outpacing other states. Colton Moore supports the invaluable work that Georgia FBLA and similar career-technical student organizations are doing to shape students into tomorrow’s leaders.
Georgia Gun Rights
Democrats are pushing for Red Flag Gun Confiscation measures, and too many Republicans have abandoned their commitment to protecting the Second Amendment. That’s why Colton Moore co-authored HB 751, which makes Georgia a sanctuary state for the Second Amendment. As the blue wave sweeps through Atlanta, the need for a staunch defender of gun rights is urgent. Colton Moore will stand firm against any infringements on our constitutional right to bear arms. The Second Amendment is our safeguard against tyranny, as well as a national defense strategy—ensuring enemies abroad believe every blade of grass has a firearm behind it. Self-defense, hunting, and recreation are also vital parts of the conversation on gun rights. To apply for a Weapon’s Carry license, apply here.
Georgia Healthcare
The healthcare industry in Georgia is currently dominated by monopolies, including government-run programs. It’s time to let the free market determine which providers can offer the best value in terms of cost and quality. Colton Moore advocates for shifting more healthcare services to a free-market model, which will reduce the financial burden on low-income residents.
We must break up vertical integration in the healthcare system. A corporation should not have the power to prescribe medication and mandate that it be filled at their pharmacy. Additionally, patent monopolies must be reduced, and the U.S. should begin manufacturing more drug compounds domestically. Why is it that a drug can cost $5 in China but $1,000 here? Why isn’t insulin as affordable as a soda?
Georgia Hunting Rights
Georgians have a right to hunt on their own land in accordance with the law. Colton Moore is committed to protecting these rights and will push back against proposed hunting regulations that infringe on personal freedoms and property rights. If you own it, you should be able to enjoy it to the fullest. Bring on the deer bait! To apply for a Georgia hunting license, click here.
Georgia-Tennessee Water
Georgia has a legal claim to reclaim land lost to Tennessee, providing an opportunity for a greater supply of water. As Atlanta and surrounding communities grow, the demand for water will only increase. The Tennessee River holds excess water that could be redirected into Georgia, helping to mitigate future water shortages. Colton Moore will fight to ensure that Northwest Georgia plays a pivotal role in securing Georgia’s water future.
Governor Brian Kemp
Colton Moore has long been a champion of Governor Brian Kemp, supporting his gubernatorial campaign through initiatives like “Big Trucks for Kemp” and acquiring briankemp.com. Colton has consistently backed Governor Kemp’s policy agenda, including vocal support for the Heartbeat Bill and ending Common Core in Georgia. Like Governor Kemp, Colton Moore believes in cutting red tape and empowering the free market to flourish.
Girl Scout Council of Northwest Georgia
The Girl Scouts of Northwest Georgia are a shining example of how young women can learn leadership roles for life. Through their research-backed programs, they offer young girls the chance to develop vital skills and take on leadership positions. Colton Moore believes in the work the Girl Scouts are doing and encourages the continued development of young leaders. More Gold Award recipients are needed! To learn more about the goals of the Girl Scouts, visit their website here.
History of Jeff Mullis
Senator Jeff Mullis has a long history of accepting corporate favors in Georgia, and this practice continues today. Mullis’s allegiance to powerful lobbyists, rather than the people of Georgia, has become evident. He’s introduced bills that protect corporate interests at the expense of public interest, including one that intimidates those testifying in his committee and another that silences investigative journalism. Mullis is a prime example of the corrupt political establishment that puts power above the people.
Landlord & Real-Estate Rights
Tenant-landlord regulations in Georgia often create imbalances that leave property owners at a disadvantage. Colton Moore believes in re-examining real estate and rental laws to ensure an equitable balance between tenant and landlord rights, offering fairness for property owners who face issues such as tenant property damage without recourse.
Law Enforcement
Georgia ranks among the top 10 worst states to be a law enforcement officer, with low pay being a significant contributing factor. Colton Moore believes our law enforcement officers should be treated with honor and respect. Low pay discourages qualified individuals from joining the profession. Additionally, law enforcement officers should never be left in a position where they fear taking appropriate action due to regulations that inhibit their safety.
Local Control
The government is to be by the people and for the people. When we allow oppressive federal or state control over the conduct of localities, it detracts from our democratic goals. Local officials need to be empowered to address the immediate needs of the constituency. Colton Moore has fought against Atlanta’s overreach into local governance and will continue advocating for local control in the State Senate. Local officials need the power to address the immediate concerns of their constituents, and Colton Moore supports policies that help them do so.
Lower the Income Tax
Georgians deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money, and Colton Moore is committed to cutting income taxes to encourage economic growth. Tennessee, with no income tax, has seen growth that Georgia’s Northwest region is missing out on. By removing income taxes, Georgia can boost its local economy and encourage business growth. The state should stop using people’s paychecks to fund corporate subsidies and instead allow Georgians to reinvest in their communities. Check out how Colton Moore has been fighting income taxes here.
Medical Marijuana
There are many testimonies from medical marijuana patients highlighting the medical benefits associated with the drug, backed by extensive research in the field. Georgia has made progress in delivering access to patients, but the process must move quicker with less crony regulations. It’s time to offer patients and veterans a medical alternative to the oftentimes harmful drugs prescribed today.
Hemp
Hemp production is well suited for our North Georgia climate. Unfortunately, the first round of legislation to legalize this crop was slow and is proving to be burdensome. Colton Moore plans to advocate for NW Georgia’s landowners to have an equitable opportunity to grow this safe and valuable crop like our neighbors in Tennessee. We can sell CBD products and hemp-based soaps, but we still can’t grow it? Lawmakers, we have a problem. More studies by the University of Georgia are on the way.
Medicare
Medicare engages in price setting for health services and discourages charitable services along with competitive pricing. There are free market solutions to taking care of our seniors at a much cheaper cost to the federal government, giving more freedom of choice to the patient as well. The regulations imposed through Medicare policy need to be addressed.
Methadone Clinics
Georgia has more methadone clinics than any state second to Florida, and Florida has twice the population. NW Georgia does not need the negative side effects that methadone clinics bring to a community. We must get to the root of the opioid crisis in this state and utilize better forms of addiction treatment. Prescribing one opioid for another isn’t the best solution, especially when NWGA’s methadone market brings in shady addicts and crime to our homes.
Occupational Licenses
Why should a florist need a license to sell flowers? If a customer doesn’t like the arrangement, they don’t have to buy it. Occupational licenses are a direct barrier to small business creation. The Georgia legislature needs to take an aggressive look into the unnecessary penalization of those attempting to start and operate a business. Colton Moore believes we should look at the models of other states that have pressed the reset button on occupational licenses.
One-Party Recording
Colton Moore’s previous opponent championed a bill that criminalizes recording another party without that party’s consent. All this bill does is empower and protect those afraid of being caught in criminal behavior, while effectively killing investigative journalism and evidentiary-based legal pursuits. Those working to uncover the truth would now be criminalized in Georgia, further perverting our criminal justice system and eroding our rights.
President Donald Trump
Colton Moore is the only legislator known to wear a MAGA hat in public and is completely behind President Trump’s agenda to Keep America Great. The Democrats and the fake news media have become one and the same through their relentless attacks on the President. Colton intends to build upon President Trump’s vision for America in the Georgia State Senate.
Prisoners & Convicted Felons Re-Entry in Society
Through rehabilitative education and proper skills training, we can create an easier and more productive transition into society for prisoners and felons completing their sentences. When a punishment has been served, our community should invite these past offenders back with open arms to deter repeat offenses. A heavy focus must be directed toward the employability of ex-convicts, as the initial entry into the workforce is the greatest determination of avoiding repeat offenses. When a convict has paid their debt to society, let them be born again as a citizen.
Private Aviation in Northwest Georgia
Rather than subsidize commercial airlines with our hard-earned tax dollars, Georgia can lift regulations on private aviation to allow competition in travel options. The way people fly will forever be changed by COVID-19, and new innovative approaches to air travel need to be encouraged by a deregulated free market for aviation in Georgia. Singapore, Dubai, and others are exploring the use of automated drones for travel. Georgia would benefit greatly from these technologies. Quick transfer of people and industrial parts for Georgia manufacturing.
Pro-Life
The passage of The Georgia Heartbeat Bill has granted us an incredible opportunity to protect hundreds of thousands of lives over the next decade. Colton supports the doctrine of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness even for those who are speechless in their defense and clinging to life in their mother’s womb. Life begins at conception. End abortion in Georgia and defund Planned Parenthood.
Railroads
Freight railroads should take priority over passenger lines in NW Georgia. Easy, unburdened access to these lines is critical to keeping manufacturers supplied and products delivered. High-speed rail from Atlanta to Chattanooga is an idea of the past. Today, Hyperloop technology should be sought for the transfer of people and freight at airline-level speeds.
Rural Internet Access
The Internet is the lifeline of the 21st century. Rural areas across the state of Georgia are lacking in quick and reliable internet connectivity while watching their population and economy leave for better-connected areas. Internet availability is pertinent to fostering a competitive free-market economy. Not only does our children’s education depend on it, but modern agriculture demands it.
Second Amendment
The right of the citizens to bear arms is endowed by our creator and is not to be infringed upon by any means. Politicians should have no say in how we choose to protect ourselves, nor should they choose how we defend against a tyrannical government.
When the Second Amendment was written, the people had the same weapons as the British military. The right to bear arms is not for the sport of hunting, but to stop an authoritative transgression on the rights of the citizenry. Colton Moore supports Constitutional Carry in Georgia and will fight against any proposed gun control in the State Senate. Any degradation of our gun rights will be brought to light, and the gun-grabbers will be fought every step of the way.
Sex Offenders
Those who violate children and commit the most serious sex crimes should be put to death. However, increasingly these crimes are easy to accuse but difficult to prove. Benjamin Franklin stated it as: “It is better 100 guilty persons should escape than that one innocent person should suffer.” We must be vigilant not to pass legislation that doesn’t help secure guilt but instead gives a heavier burden to an innocent person who accepts a plea deal out of fear of a potential sentence.
Speaker David Ralston & Jeff Mullis
Our legislature is held captive by a well-oiled cabal of good ole’ boy career politicians. Speaker David Ralston and Jeff Mullis have teamed together to kill good legislation from progressing while letting crony bills through for their cohorts. Mullis sits on the Senate Rules Committee and has effectively blocked good legislation. Speaker Ralston has prevented good bills, such as Constitutional Carry, from seeing a House vote. This team needs to be split up, as the General Assembly will not be returned to the people without it.
Speed Limits
Speeding violations are victimless infractions that divert our valuable police force away from their essential duties. Colton Moore believes in the rule of law, therefore, theoretically everyone traveling 1 mph over the speed limit should be ticketed. The current regulations on vehicle speed are proven to be unenforceable, inevitably making a mockery of our system of laws. Common speed averages should be considered when raising or lowering speed limits.
State Parks
The residents of NW Georgia need to have safe access to their local state parks. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we saw an unprecedented influx of visitors from across the state to Cloudland Canyon State Park, with constituents calling for its closure. Under the State of Emergency, Dade County could shut down certain entrances into the county along its borders. Colton has advocated for this common-sense solution, as Fannin and Habersham counties have taken similar measures.
State Senate Transparency
In the Georgia State Senate, traditional bill votes are recorded, but votes on amendments are not. When amendments are proposed, they are followed by a show of hands or a voice vote, and it’s left to the discretion of the Lt. Governor to decide which amendments are heard. This practice allows the true intention of good legislation to be undermined by unrecorded votes. The people of Georgia deserve to know how bills are finalized or altered. It’s time to bring transparency to the State Senate. Colton Moore will fight for increased transparency and advocate for a system where all votes, including those on amendments, are publicly recorded.
Term Limits
Public office was never meant to be a lifelong career. It was intended to be an opportunity for citizen legislators to serve their community. Unfortunately, we’ve seen career politicians entrenched in office for decades. It’s time for term limits to be imposed at both the federal and state levels. Colton Moore believes that draining the swamp and reducing the influence of special interests is essential to restoring true representation for the people of Georgia. It’s time for fresh leadership and new perspectives in our government.
Textile Manufacturing
Thanks to the leadership of President Trump, textile jobs are returning to the United States from overseas. Georgia has an incredible opportunity to foster a competitive market for all businesses by reducing unnecessary regulations and lowering corporate tax rates. We must also ensure our workforce is prepared by investing in education and workforce development, so Georgia’s manufacturing industries continue to thrive. Colton Moore is committed to creating an environment where businesses can grow and create jobs for Georgians.
Trucking & Transportation
During times of crisis, Georgia has seen the Governor lift trucking and transport regulations to expedite the movement of goods. Colton Moore believes that this flexibility should be a permanent part of Georgia’s transportation policy. Cutting red tape and allowing for more efficient shipping can improve our state’s economy. Additionally, Colton supports allowing dump trucks to use three axles like their counterparts in Tennessee and advocates for truck inspections to take place in secure, isolated locations instead of congested highways.
Veterans
Our nation’s veterans are true heroes, having dedicated their lives to defending the freedoms we enjoy. With one of the largest veteran populations in the country, Georgia has a special responsibility to ensure that our veterans receive the best care and opportunities. Colton Moore is committed to advocating for VA reform and ensuring that our veterans’ quality of life and healthcare needs are met with the respect and care they deserve.
Why Now is the Time to Get Rid of Jeff Mullis
Georgia is changing, and we need leadership that reflects the concerns and values of its people. After 20 years of entrenched political power, Jeff Mullis has become too cozy with the establishment. His campaign contributions, largely from big lobbyists and PACs, have grown consistently over the years, signaling his loyalty to special interests over his constituents. The people of Senate District 53 have suffered while Mullis has played political games in smoky backrooms. Colton Moore is fighting for the people of NW Georgia and actively working on draining the swamp in Atlanta.
Zoning & Property Rights
Zoning regulations drive up the cost of housing and disproportionately harm low- and middle-income families. These regulations also hinder small business development and restrict home building, pushing lower-income individuals into less economically active communities. Colton Moore believes that zoning should never be used as a tool for generating revenue for local governments. He will work to ensure that zoning regulations protect property rights and foster economic growth, rather than stifle it.
